Meet Our Technical Director II: Andik Syaifudin Zuhri
Born on July 21, 1988, in Tulungagung, Andik Syaifudin Zuhri is a dedicated leader and expert in water resource management, with a focus on land and water development for food security. Raised in the agricultural heartland of Indonesia, Andik developed a deep connection to the land and an early appreciation for the critical role water plays in sustaining both agriculture and livelihoods. This passion drove him to pursue a career where he could combine his technical expertise with his desire to make a positive impact on the environment and society.
Andik’s journey into the world of water engineering began at Universitas Brawijaya, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Irrigation Engineering. Here, he built a strong foundation in the science and technology of water management, learning to design efficient irrigation systems and develop strategies for sustainable water use. His dedication to excellence and his understanding of water as a vital resource set him on a path of innovation and leadership.
But Andik’s thirst for knowledge didn’t stop there. Driven by a commitment to addressing global challenges related to food security, he pursued a Master’s degree at the world-renowned UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education. There, he specialized in Land and Water Development for Food Security, a field that focuses on creating sustainable systems to ensure reliable access to water for agriculture, a critical element in combating hunger and ensuring long-term food production. His experience at UNESCO not only sharpened his technical skills but also gave him a global perspective, enabling him to apply cutting-edge solutions to local and regional challenges in Indonesia.
Today, Andik resides in the peaceful village of Krajan, Kabupaten Tulungagung, where he continues to lead transformative projects as Technical Director II. His role involves managing large-scale land and water development projects, with a focus on creating systems that ensure both environmental sustainability and agricultural productivity. Andik’s work is at the intersection of technology, agriculture, and environmental conservation, aiming to create a future where water resources are managed wisely, and food production can meet the needs of an ever-growing population.
Andik’s expertise in land and water development has led to innovative projects that address some of Indonesia’s most pressing challenges, particularly in rural areas where agriculture is the backbone of the economy. By implementing smart irrigation systems and modern water management techniques, Andik helps farmers increase their crop yields while reducing water waste. His work ensures that water resources are used efficiently, benefiting both the environment and the local communities that depend on agriculture for their livelihoods.
What sets Andik apart as a leader is his ability to bridge the gap between technical solutions and practical applications. He understands that technology alone is not enough to create sustainable systems—it must be adapted to the local context, and the needs of the people must always come first. As a result, Andik is deeply involved in community engagement, working closely with local farmers, government officials, and stakeholders to ensure that the projects he leads are not only technically sound but also socially and economically viable.
In addition to his technical expertise, Andik is a strong advocate for education and capacity building. He believes that empowering local communities with knowledge about water conservation and sustainable agricultural practices is key to creating lasting change. Through workshops, training sessions, and mentorship programs, Andik shares his expertise with others, fostering a new generation of engineers and agricultural leaders who will carry forward his vision of sustainability.
As Technical Director II, Andik Syaifudin Zuhri plays an essential role in driving our organization’s mission to enhance food security and promote sustainable water management practices across Indonesia. His leadership is characterized by a commitment to innovation, collaboration, and a deep respect for the environment. By integrating global best practices with local wisdom, Andik is helping to build a future where water resources are managed efficiently, food production is sustainable, and communities can thrive.
Under Andik’s guidance, our organization continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible in the field of land and water development. His vision for the future is one where Indonesia’s agricultural sector is resilient, adaptive, and capable of meeting the challenges posed by climate change, population growth, and evolving environmental pressures.
